Aland Islands, autonomous region of Finland, consist of more then 6,5 thousand islands (of which 60 are inhabited). The territory is approximately 1,500 km², of which about 2% are rivers and lakes. The largest of the islands is the island of Aland, covering an area nearly 700 km². The highest point is Orrdalsklint Hill, which is 129 meters high.
The population is nearly 30 thousand.
The only city and capital Mariehamn, with population over 11,5 thousand inhabitants.
The official language is Swedish: for the most population it is the mother tongue.
